My initial idea for my own music magazine is:
I first thought about doing a rock based music magazine but decided that it would be hard to compete in the market as very saturated with magazine's such as Kerrang. So I looked at the music I actually liked which was a wide range so from my own tastes I decided for me it would be best to do a charts magazine. Unfortunately most chart music magazine in the United Kingdom died out such as Top of the Pops magazine as it couldnt compete against the internet, so I would re-launch a chart music magazine as there is definitely a market for a chart music magazine. I would also keep my charts music magazines popular by making it different from the others, so hopefully it can run for a while and hopefully wont die out so making it different from the others will hopefully maintain an audience. I am basing this on the idea of the American chart magazine Billboard which is very successful. So I’m aiming it to be quite professional and my target audience would be around the ages of 17-25. The proportion of females to males I estimate would be about 70%females and 30% males because women tend to be the ones that want to know everything and this magazine would appeal. Adverts that will appear in the magazine are things like, hmv, car adverts, music channels, TV programmes, tours/events etc. They will appear in the magazine as they will appeal to the intended audience. My magazine will be published every two weeks on a wednesday as its midweek and will be priced around £2.20 to compete with other music magazines out there but also enough to gain a profit so the magazine company don't go bust.
