Journalism task: Review of 2012(2009)
The movie 2012 is directed by Roland Emmerich who has done film such as Independence Day, The day after tomorrow and Godzilla. But unfortunately this film of his is not the best he has done. Although the film requires a lot of special effects which are generally good throughout the film in some places they need to sort out as it did look quite fake and sort of wrecked the whole experience of the disaster. The ending is really disappointing. It ends on a high note and after everything they discover the disaster weren’t as bad as suspected which wrecked the whole point of the film. The storyline is quite good as the father is fighting to keep his family alive but they do come across some tricky tasks that people wouldn’t generally survive so it makes the film seem really unrealistic. Another thing is the acting is quite poorly done and in some places is quite painful to watch. Also the whole film is literally based round 2 characters but because you know they are going to be ok it’s hard to sympathise with them so the some characters you do end up caring about have little screen time.

2012 is a rubbish film. If you want to waste near to 3 hours of your time watching the most pointless movie ever then this is the right film, if not don’t watch it. The graphics/special effects are really pathetic at times which makes it really hard to watch. The acting is really, really bad even my gran could do better. The storyline is also really useless as it’s about a dad trying to save his family and not a sacrifice was made so they all survived which silly really as it is a disaster movie.
